Description: | Foreshore, N. of Little Furzenip, Freshwater West. Looking W. Silurian and Lower Old Red Sandstone. The broken line represents a cross-fault. The rocks seen on this side are those on which the figure in A968 is standing; they form practically the whole of the Silurian outcrop, the hammer-head lying close to the base and the highest beds seen immediately underlying the basal conglomerate of the Old Red. The Silurian rocks are of Ludlow age and include near their base fine breccias, AA. Beyond the fault the sequence is repeated: B is the basal breccia of the Silurian and C the basal conglomerate of the Old Red. |
