Description: | Barras Nose from Tintagel Haven. Coast scenery. Upper Devonian slates and lavas. The spur of rock in the centre of the view is lava underlain by black slates dipping towards the sea. At the headland this succession is repeated with lower beds (silvery phyllites) forming the ridge beyond the spur previously mentioned. Similar silvery phyllites are found in the cliffs to the right of the picture, underlying the two groups of the spur and headland which have been overthrust upon the silvery phyllites. Caves mark the position of the thrust planes. |
