Description: | Coryton Slate Quarry, 6 1/2 m. N. of Tavistock. Method of working for slate. The cleavage planes are seen dipping from left to right, and the bedding from right to left at a high angle. A bed of commercial value has been excavated, and the puckered roof of the next lower bed is seen on the right. The rest of the rock is waste. The beds are of Carboniferous age and underlie chert. |
