Description: | Stannon Marsh Clay Works, near Camelford. Looking S. Head or wash on china-clay. Shows some 10 feet of head or wash on the china-clay of Stannon Marsh. This wash has all come downhill; none has been supplied by the china-clay itself. The larger stones are all at and near the top, the feature is best seen near a tor, where huge blocks lie on top of the head or wash. It seems fairly certain these layer stones slid down on a frozen surface. |
