Description: | Feldspar from the loch shore of Loch Sunart on the west side of Sron na Saobhaidh, Invernessshire. A label on the specimens indicates they are a 'reasonably' picked sample of feldspars as sent to Ministry of Munitions. British Geological Survey Petrology Collection sample number MC 7435. The Moine country rocks north of Loch Linne throughout much of north-west Argyll and western Invernessshire are extensively permeated and injected by pegmatite. There are two narrow zones of pegmatites, the first extends from the north side of Loch Shiel, a little to the east of Dalilea, through Ben Resipol to Loch Sunart where this specimen was collected. The second zone of pegmatites called the Great Pegmatite Belt rums from the Glenelg district southward towards Glenfinnan to Morvern. |
