The fireclay worked here for the manufacture of drain pipes, etc. is about 4 ft. thick and immediately underlies the Inch Mine coal, a thin seam averaging one inch in thickness. The Inch Mine coal is a local seam 66 ft. above the famous Bullion Mine coal. It is worked here opencast and by means of dayeyes. A very shallow winding shaft is seen in the photograph. |
