| Description: | Viewpoint, about 1/4 m. west-south-west of Wynds Point, Little Malvern, on Malvern - Ledbury Road. Looking north. The view embraces the Malvern range from North Hill by way of Worcestershire Beacon, the highest of the distant hills, the Wyche gap, and the line of hills extending almost to Wynds Point and the British Camp Hotel. This line of hills, about four miles long, consists of Precambrian rocks characterised by grassy slopes with craggy exposures. A thrust, marked from the Silurian by the upward limit of tree-growth, separates the Precambrian from the Silurian rocks whose scarps and westerly inclined dip-slopes can readily be discerned. The escarpments are capped by belts of trees and consist, from right to left, of May Hill Sandstone, Wenlock Limestone and Aymestry Limestone. The intervening arable ground is occupied by Silurian shales. |
