Description: Oblique aerial view at The Storr and the Old Man of Storr, Skye. The Storr is formed of flat-bedded Tertiary basaltic lavas with a capping of mugearite, a rock composed of oligoclase feldspar with subordinate alkali feldspar and mafic minerals. The lower slopes are covered with landslip debris which contains some very large blocks, of which the Old Man of Storr is one (pinnacle of rock in centre foreground). Note the well-developed scree slopes, some partly vegetated. The scree at The Storr is a famous collecting point for an extensive suite of zeolites along with scree at Ben Essie, 1.5 miles north-east of Portree.
