Description: Valley of the River Forth from Gowan Hill, Stirling. Looking east. Stirlingshire. Windings of the River Forth and the great plain of the Carse or 50 ft. raised beach. The main Forth Valley and the lower reaches of some of the tributary valleys are floored by the flat low-lying areas of marine and estuarine alluvium known as the 'Carse'. This forms a tract two-and-a-half to three miles wide in the west, narrowing to one mile near Stirling then opening out as in the photograph to a width of about four miles. Forms part of a panorama with C03042.
