Description: Needle's Eye', Gilla Head Bay, 0.8 km. east of Macduff. Banffshire. Natural arch in blue quartzites and flags of the Macduff Slate Formation, Southern Highland Group of the Dalradian Supergroup. (Previously known as the Highland Metamorphic Series.) The natural arch formed when two caves on opposite sides of the headland joined. Eventually, the arch will collapse leaving the seaward portion as an isolated stack.
