| Description: | Kine Moor opencast site, 350 yd. S. 39 degrees E. Warren Royd. Looking E. Opencast coal series. First cut with overburden removed from coal. Stripped topsoil forms the low mound on the right. Subsoil (blue shale and sandstone) has been removed by scraper to the mound on the left (behind two trees). The cut - parallel to the strike of the seam - is 100 ft. wide. Black patches showing in the floor of the cut are exposures of the Whinmoor Seam not wholly cleared of overburden. |
