Description: | Crovie Village taken from cliff-top car park, Banffshire. Lower Old Red Sandstone and Dalradian rocks on the foreshore. The faulted/jointed Lower Old Red Sandstone (Crovie Group) sequence is on the foreshore against the Dalradian rocks (Macduff Slate Formation) at the far end of the village. The steep cliff behind the garages is coincident with an unconformity separating Middle Old Red Sandstone (Gardenstown Conglomerate Formation) from Crovie Group formations on the foreshore. The exposed scar of Banffshire coastal Drift Group is seen on the slope beyond the red telephone box. |
