Description: | Botany Bay, Foreness Point. Looking WNW. Joint-controlled erosion in Chalk cliffs, Botany Bay. Vertical joint systems affecting Uintacinus Zone Chalk in the foreground have been picked out by marine erosion as rectilinear inlets and the natural arch. Botany Bay is in the middle distance. A slight westerly dip brings Marsupites Zone Chalk down to beach level at Foreness Point in the extreme distance. Frost action has broken up the upper few feet of chalk at the cliff tops. |
