Description: | Random rubble wall of locally derived stone. The sandstone (pinkish white, yellowish white and white varieties) is of Early Carboniferous age. The black and dark grey-green stones are of olivine basalt, probably from the plug on which the castle is built. Coarse mortar contains shell fragments. |
