Description: | Ulodendron is a plant form-genera displaying lycophyte shoots which appear not to shed their leaves seasonally. British Geological Survey Biostratigraphy Collection number GSE 1269. Since fossil plants tend to be preserved in a fragmentary state, piecing them together remains a difficult task. The attention of geologists is usually restricted to the general form of the leaves. To group together plants with similarities it has been necessary to to give them provisional names, and a number of 'form-genera' have been established. These are not genera in the usual definite sense, but are useful for descriptive and recording purposes. This specimen is from the Carboniferous Calciferous Sandstone Series. |
