Description: Devil's Study, coast section between Old Castle and Whinnyfold. Recumbent eastward-facing F1 folds in Dalradian greywackes. F1 westward closing recumbent fold in gritty and pelitic greywackes of the Collieston Formation (Southern Highland Group). The pelitic units contain abundant cordierite plus biotite and andalusite. A prominent axial-planar spaced cleavage (S1) is seen in the gritty beds. A more continuous cleavage occurs in the pelitic units. The grass-covered upper cliffs behind are composed largely of red boulder clay.
