Description: River Rheidol, 1010 m. upstream of Capel Bangor Halt. Looking SE. Gravel deposits in the River Rheidol. Coarse grass and gorse have colonized the gravel of the latest point bar of Rheidol alluvium in the foreground. Three distinct units can be recognized in the cross-section of the fluvioglacial terrace in the 5 m. cliff face across the river. A thin (0.05 m.) pale yellow and bleached brown overbank alluvial loamy silt (? with loessic input) with an irregular base, overlies 2 m. of dirty impure gravel, possibly fluvioglacial in origin. The gravel becomes less coarse towards the base and contains paler coloured, interbedded foresets of sand up to 0.30 m. thick dipping steeply (30 degrees) downstream.
