Description: Blinkers Hill, Swaffham Prior Fen. Looking NE. A 36-ft trunk of bog oak peat. Trees which fell and were buried in the peat with the onset of fen conditions are awkward objects now commonly encountered in ploughing wherever the black fen soil is reduced to within 2 or 3 of underlying clays (in the present instance Gault) on which the forest trees grew.
