Description: New pit, to the immediate N. of Robinson's Farm, 1350 yd. W. of S. of the Hall, Holywell. This is a view of the well-known 'Clipsham Stone' quarry where the freestone (Lincolnshire Limestone) is being worked for the re-building of the Houses of Parliament. Thin basal Great Oolite Limestone is seen just under the grass all round the pit, and it is underlaid by the variegated Upper Estuarine Beds down to the Lincolnshire Limestone part of which is seen at the far end of the working on the left.
