This field shows on the left the colour change from the brown sandy Northampton Sands soil to the overlying grey Lower Estuarine Sands soil, this latter crops out across the field where the two individuals in the picture are working. Above their heads in the distant higher part of the field the ground appears much darker, this marks the outcrops of the Upper Estuarine Clays which overlie the Lower Estuarines. |
