Description: Gravel-pit, 1/2 m. W. of Laddingford. Looking W. 1st Terrace Gravel of the River Medway. The gravels form part of a terrace with its surface a few feet above the flood-plain level of the River Medway. The gravels are composed of Wealden sandstone and siltstone pebbles together with subangular flints and tertiary flint pebbles, in a sandy matrix, with current-bedded lenses of sand. Slightly above the hammer is to be seen an irregular inclusion of light grey alluvial clay.
