Description: 700 m. W. of Hayes Point, Barry. Looking NE. Triassic sandstones resting unconformably upon Carboniferous Lower Limestone Shales near Hayes Point, Barry. The foreground shows north-westerly dipping coarse crinoidal and oolitic limestones of the Middle Member of the Lower Limestone Shales (Courceyan). Note cross-bedding in 2 m. face of oolite at right of photograph. The Triassic strata consist of thin graded units of pebbly, coarse to fine sandstone interbedded with fine sandstone, siltstone and marl. A 1.5 m. conglomeratic bed detailed in photograph A12630 can be seen at the right of the photograph towards the base of the Triassic. Small normal faults are seen in the Triassic strata on the right. Height of Triassic cliff c. 4 m.
