Description: Between St. Arvans and Tintern. Looking N. Wye Valley, below Tintern. Slope on left (Monmouthshire) is formed of Upper Red Sandstone capped by basal limestones and clays of the Lower Limestone Shales (Carboniferous Limestone Series). On the right (Gloucestershire) the basal limestones form a small feature in the middle distance; the overlying clays giving rise to a gentler profile. The tree-clad cliffs are formed of the Lower Dolomite and Crease Limestone. The distant hill is formed of Upper Old Red Sandstone.
