Caption: Gilwern Hill Quarry (East).
Description: Gilwern Hill Quarry (East). Llanelly Formation, Gilwern Hill Quarry (East). Close-up of Llanelly Formation showing parallel flat bedding and wavy bedding. Lithologically the rocks are mainly pelletal micrites and microsparites. Thin clay interbeds and some rubbly layers are also present. The irregular, wavy bedding may be due to carbonate bioherm build-up, but some small-scale channelling is also seen to right of centre of the photograph.
