Caption: The processing mill, Castle an Dinas, Cornwall.
Description: Castle an Dinas Wolfram Mine, the processing mill. General view showing jigs for the coarse material in the background, and tables for the finer material. The 'head' of wolfram concentrate, about 6 inches wide, shows dark just above the inclined pipe in the foreground: the middle product is seen passing off the right-hand corner of the table - for retreatment - and the waste material, from the side of the table passes down the launder on the right, to the waste dump. The Castle an Dinas wolfram lode was not known before 1915. In that year it was reported that alluvial deposits of wolfram were worked in the 18th and 19th centuries in the valley to the north of the hill. Exploration and a trial shaft in 1916 proved good values at 30 feet and development commenced.
