Description: | Tin streamers' works, Portreath Valley. Looking SW. Tin streamers' works. Fine-grained waste material from the dressing plant of the mines is discharged into local streams. Tin streamers' works situated at intervals along the streams treat the waste material and recover a proportion of the cassiterite. The recovery may be small but the works are operated cheaply by water power and are largely self-operating. In this plant, sulphides are calcined, the flue to the chimney on the valley slope is partly underground. |
