Caption: Geevor Mine, Pendeen, Cornwall.
Description: Geevor Mine, Pendeen. Geevor Mine, mill. The pulp from the ball mill and screens shown passes to a rake classifier (top left), the fine material from which goes to fifteen vanners and the coarse material to a 10-spigot Stokes hydrosizer. The two fine spigot products pass to vanners and remaining eight-spigot products to James tables, the heads from which are treated on a Holman-Mitchell table for the removal of sulphides. There are two mining areas associated with the Land's End Granite, St. Just and St. Ives. Geevor is one of a number of mines in the St. Just area, on the north-west side of the granite. A narrow strip of killas lies along the sea coast where a number of tin lodes trending at right angles to the granite margin have been worked under the sea. Onshore the tin lode is comparatively shallow.
