Caption: The Wethered Shaft, Geevor Mine, Pendeen, Cornwall.
Description: Geevor Mine, Pendeen, Wethered Shaft. Looking west. The shaft, about 800 ft. deep, is situated near the St. Just - St. Ives road and serves the western part of the present workings. Ore is hoisted by self-dumping skip, and passes over a grizzley, the undersize going to an ore bin just behind the headgear and the oversize to another below and farther back. Ore from these bins is conveyed to the mill, near Victory Shaft by overhead ropeway. Geevor Mine incorporated North Levant, Wheal Carne and Wheal Bal in addition to the more recent additions of Boscaswell Downs Mine acquired in 1936, the inland Levant lease acquired in 1967 and the offshore lease of Levant Mine acquired from the Crown in 1971.
