Description: | Bishopstone Haven. Looking N. Type section of Oldhaven Beds. This gap, formerly known as Oldhaven, is the type locality of the Oldham Beds. On the subject of the left third of photograph, gravel deposits overlie a few feet of London Clay resting on the full thickness (20 ft) of Oldhaven Beds, the basal pebble beds of which are shown as a dark band half-way down the left-hand margin of the photograph. These in turn rest on 25 ft. of Woolwich Beds. The outcrop of the underlying Thanet Sand is observed by slipped material in the bottom of the Haven. |
