Description: W. of pier, Allhallows beach, S. side of Thames Estuary. Looking WSW. Alluvium, Thames Estuary. The view shows 'saltings' or alluvial tracts on the seaward side of the sea-wall. The alluvium is being eroded and forms small cliffs. Here and there small and thin accumulations of sand, and occasionally pebbles, cover the Thames mud near the high tide mark. The hills beyond are of London Clay.
