Description: Woolton Quarry, Woolton. Looking NE. The Bunter Pebble Beds, the middle subdivision of the Bunter formation in the Liverpool district have been extensively quarried for building purposes. They consist of firm, red and yellow sandstones with occasional scattered rounded quartzite pebbles. The stone from here is being used in the construction of the new Anglican cathedral at Liverpool.
