Description: Addington Sand Co's. Pit, just over 1/2 m. SE of Trottiscliffe. Looking E. Pit in Folkestone Sand. Sand with variable iron content and variably loamy. The dark horizons are of coloured sand with a high iron content, while pure, mainly white sand only occurs in the lower part of the pit. Note dumps of waste coarse sand and loam, and broken up ironstone on the floor of the pit. The loose sand is scooped up by means of a drag-line scraper.
