Description: 250 yd. ENE St. Thomas's Church, Southborough. Looking W. Junction of sand and clay marked by change of vegetation and slope. The steeper slope is due to sandrock which marks the lowest part of the Lower Tunbridge Wells Sand. Seepage of water from the sand out on to the gentler slope of underlying Wadhurst Clay has fostered the growth of rushes.
