Description: Chiddingly Wood, West Hoathly. Looking SW. Great-upon-Little. A pillar of Lower Tunbridge Wells Sandstone resting on a small base. At the bottom of massive sandstone comes a thin band of clay along which water constantly seeps out, and by dissolving the calcareous cement produces the undercut appearance. See: Topley, W. 'The Weald', Mem. Geol. Surv. 1875, pp.248, 249. Edmunds, F.H. Proc. Geol. Assoc. 1936, p.68-70.
