Description: | Viewpoint, 1/3 m. SW of Forest Bridge, Strands, Wasdale. Looking E. Terraced moraines of the Wasdale Glacier (telephoto view). The viewpoint is from the south side of the Santon-Bridge Road, about ? mile south of Strands. The moraines are clearly recognizable in centre of view, by their smooth contours contrasting with the rugged outlines of Kilnhow Craig just behind them. The moraines are aligned east and west, with steep ice-contact slopes on northern sides, facing the wood on left side of view. In the background are the precipitous slopes of Borrowdale Volcanics, rising to the left in the heights overtopping the famous 'Screes'. |
