Spilitic lavas in right foreground are overlain by Llyn Cau Mudstones which form the hollow of Bwlch Cau on skyline to right as well as the bed of the lake itself. They dip to the left (south) beneath the lavas and ashes of the Upper Acid Group which surrounds the rest of the lake. The low aretes on left centre is Craig Cau, behind which is another fine corrie - Cwm Amarch. Note moraine holding up the lake waters.
