Description: Furze Platt Gravel Pit, Maidenhead. Looking N. The Furze-Platt stage of the Boyn Terrace gravels of the Thames. Furze Platt. The Boyn Terrace is naturally divisible into a higher and a lower stage characterized respectively by heavily water-worn and unworn palaeolithic implements. At Boyn Hill abraded ovates occur, and only rarely: at Furze Platt many thousands of unrolled early St. Acheul pointed implements have been recovered. The effect of a solution pipe can be seen near the screen.
