Description: Pearson's Gravel Pit, Dartford Heath. Looking NNW. Channel cut in the Thanet Sand and covered by the Boyn Terrace (100 ft.) of the Lower Thames. Dartford Heath. The foreground is composed of Thanet Sand which is seen to form a hollow in which current-bedded sandy gravel lies. One slope of the old channel is exposed by the ladder under the bridge on right of view. The Boyn Terrace is even-bedded. Rolled ovate implements of Acheulian type occur abundantly in this higher gravel.
