Description: Aust Cliff, E. bank of River Severn. Looking E. Aust Cliff. View of cliff showing lower half of cliff formed of dark red Keuper Marl. Close to the shore vertical veins of gypsum are seen. Above the red marl lies 8 ft. of grey Keuper Marl with prominent sandstone band near the top. The top of the cliff is composed or Rhaetic and Lower Lias beds (at extreme top). The dark prominent rock band above the sandstone is the Lower Pecten-bed, a hard dark, pyritous limestone, in the Lower Rhaetic. Two small faults are seen on the left.
