Description: Viewpoint, Llangunno Church, E. of Carmarthen. Looking E. Scenery in Protozoic rocks. The Towy Valley above Carmarthen. The flood plain of the River Towy flanked on the left by the Didymograptus bifidus bed of Merlin's Hill, on the right by the wooded Arenig shales and grits of Cystanog. The dark projecting knoll (middle distance, left centre) is the faulted outlier of Bala Limestone forming Capel Dewi Hill, to the left of which is the hill of Cilcoed, also of Bala Limestone. In the distance, the stepped Silurian and Old Red Sandstone scarps of the Black Mountains.
