Description: Old quarry, Lime Kiln Hill, about 1/4 m. SE of Mells Church. Looking S. Pot-hole weathering of pseudo-breccias, Carboniferous Limestone, Mells. The pitted effect is caused by the weathering of a bedding plane of pseudo-brecciated Carboniferous Limestone (Dibunophyllum Zone). The parts in which the lime is concentrated resist weathering more strongly than the parts in which lime is deficient.
