Caption: Road under Wollacombe Down. Looking E.
Description: Road under Wollacombe Down. Looking E. Section of 'head' or unassorted wash. As explained for A5958, the 'head' resulted from disintegration and movement of the surface layers of rocks by sudden thaws of ground-water and snow. The resultant sludge-stream slid downhill to mantle the lower slopes and fill up hollows.
