Description: | Blagdon Lake (Bristol Waterworks Reservoir). Looking NE. A quarry in Dolomitic Conglomerate (Triassic) occupies the foreground. Between this and the lake lies the village of Blagdon, situated on sloping ground mainly underlain by Dolomitic Conglomerate. The valley is floored by Keuper Marl which also forms the lower slopes of the hills beyond the reservoir. The flat-topped hills are capped by Lower Lias Limestone (Blue and White Lias). The flat top of Dundry Hill (Inferior Oolite) is seen on the horizon. |
