Description: S. of Maer Cliff, N. of Bude. Looking E. Nearly vertical beds of sandstone, Maer Cliff, Bude. The sandstones of the cliff-face can be traced into the plain of sea erosion where they form nearly parallel ribs separated by hollows whence the shales have been removed. This marine platform at low tides extends seawards for nearly half a mile: it is practically free of sand and is in consequence tiring to traverse.
