Description: | Matterdale Beck, south-eastern bank. Looking S. Coarse conglomerate near the base of the Borrowdale Volcanic Group. Brown and grey, coarse conglomerate with largely volcanic clasts, up to 0.6 m. in diameter, in a sandy matrix, dips south-westwards at 25 degrees. A massive sandstone band below the hammer indicates the dip from left to right. |
