Description: Barnfield Pit, Swanscombe. Looking E. Boyn Hill or 100 foot terrace deposits of the Thames. Shows the Lower Loam behind the figure surmounted by the Middle Gravel and current-bedded sand. A thin bed of the Upper Loam lies beneath the Upper Gravel. Hereabouts innumerable palaeolithic implements have been found in the Middle Gravel and especially at its base.
