Description: Rixon's Farm Pit, Swanscombe. Looking SW. A 'clay man' or pyramid of stony clay resting on terrace deposits. These clay pyramids are due to solution of the underlying Chalk which allows the terrace deposits to subside into a cavity. The curved bedding reveals the effect of such a collapse - the stony clay has thus been preserved and is itself due to a process of solifluxion.
