Description: Rickson Rixon's Farm Pit, Swanscombe. Looking NW. The Boyn Hill or 100 foot terrace gravels of the Thames. The deposits rest on the Chalk. At the base light grey to white sand and gravel locally current-bedded: in the middle ferruginous ochreous gravel: below the soil stony clay. A pipe or 'clay man' is seen behind the figure. The masses of stony clay are useless to the gravel merchants and are left standing as pyramidal masses in the pit.
