Description: Fen Bogs, Newton Dale. Looking N. Glacial overflow channel, Newton Dale, looking north from Fen Bogs. Newton Dale, by which the waters of the glacial lakes in Eskdale reached Lake Pickering is said to be 'the finest glacial- ake overflow channel in England'. It is cut entirely through the Oolite plateau of southern Cleveland, cutting commencing at 750ft O.D. The peat bog in foreground is on the divide of streams flowing north and south.
