| Description: | The Peak, Ravenscar. Looking ENE. The Peak Fault, crossing wave-cut platform, The Peak, Ravenscar. The curving outcrops on the shore in the foreground are Lower Lias; the projecting reef is the 'Peak Steel', of Middle Lias Sandstone. The main Peak Fault is between these, where the strike changes, throws the beds on the far (east) side down some 400 ft. The far side of the 'Steel' is bounded by a second fault, uniting with the main fault at the foot of the cliff, throwing a further 100 ft. in the same direction. Beyond it the boulder-covered shore is of Upper Lias. |
